Hi Reader, There are countless barriers to starting on a dream. We talk about them all the time around here. Time is a big one. So is fear. And imposter syndrome. ⬅️⬅️ Click through those links for a podcast episode that addresses each one. But today I want to address what’s possible when we look those barriers in the face and start to ask different questions. Questions like: What would it be like to show up for yourself and your dream IN the power of the Holy Spirit?
What’s at stake (i.e. who misses out) if this dream never comes to life?
How can you be proactive to tackle the obstacles in the way of your dream?
How might God grow you through challenges that come when you step into a dream?
On my run this morning I was listening to Ellie Holcomb on the Raising Boys & Girls Podcast. She talked about the experience of giving “a surrendered yes” to where God was calling her (after she had explicitly told Him she didn’t want it). Her story brought tears to my eyes as she recounted the ways God escorted her through the process of coming home to herself – to the woman God had made her with unique gifts and talents that she loved using, didn’t have to muster up, and through which, in the power of the Holy Spirit, He has touched millions of lives with her music. (Listen to a few from my queue that I have on repeat here, here and here.) What would it be like – instead of living in fear or second guessing yourself – to walk out your days knowing that God has made you capable of acting on the dream He’s put on your heart? What kind of legacy would it leave for your family? Your neighborhood? Your church? Your community? Those are the kinds of questions I want you asking.Over the next 5 weeks, I’m shifting my podcast publishing cadence to EVERY WEEK (instead of every other) to help you think through what’s possible when you give your “surrendered yes” to the dream God planted in you before the beginning of time. I believe in you. I believe in your God-shaped dream. I believe that HE will be faithful to bring to fruition what He’s given you. All He needs is your YES. And I’ve got something to support that YES, when you’re ready. Next week you can get a free sneak peek into the hearts and dreams of the women in the Devoted Dreamers community. Once a month I open the doors for us all to practice getting imperfect words out of our heads and into the world (so we can learn to talk about our dreams with more clarity). It’s fun. Refreshing. Bloopers are inevitable. And I know you’re gonna love it. It’s happening on Wednesday, 10/30 at 12:30 pm Central Time. Sign up here. |
